This is Bristol: United in fight against 'fracking'

COUNCILLORS have put political divisions aside to oppose the prospect of "fracking" near Keynsham.

At a full meeting of Bath and North East Somerset Council last night, all parties supported a motion calling for the local authority to take an in-depth look at the evidence and see what can be done.

The Bristol Post has previously reported that Welsh firm UK Methane is hoping to get planning permission for a production facility at Hicks Gate to look for coalbed methane under the ground.

Councillors have once again expressed their concerns about the effect of gas exploration on the Bath's world famous hot springs, the environment generally and the hydrological environment across the area.  MORE
