CGA Launches IGRC2024 Website and Webinar Series

[Ottawa, Ontario] The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) is pleased to announce the launch of the website – the online portal for the International Gas Research Conference planned for Banff, Alberta in May 2024, and with it the proposed IGRC2024 webinar series.

CGA was chosen to host IGRC2024 by the International Gas Union (IGU) – the global voice of natural gas. The IGRC event is the world’s biggest innovation conference, bringing gas industry experts from around the world to discuss new technology and research in the gas sector. The event website will profile the variety of thematic streams planned for the conference, including emissions management, alternative gaseous fuels (hydrogen, renewable natural gas (RNG), etc.), gas and electric integration, small-scale liquified natural gas (LNG), and others.

Advancing clean technologies and innovation is a priority for Canada’s natural gas industry, and the rationale for CGA’s creation of its Natural Gas Innovation Fund (NGIF) in 2017. The enthusiasm for gas innovation has seen NGIF grow into NGIF Capital Corporation, and under it a granting vehicle that has invested in over 50 technologies (NGIF Industry Grants), an Emissions Testing Centre (ETC), and a venture fund of $50 million (NGIF Cleantech Ventures). IGRC2024 presents an opportunity to profile and build on NGIF Capital Corporation’s work, and to build the global momentum around the innovation agenda. CGA has developed http://igrc2024.org/ as a means to get engagement on that agenda in Banff in 2024.

“This is an exciting and important time for the gas industry, not only in Canada but around the world,” said Timothy M. Egan, President and CEO of the Canadian Gas Association and Chair of NGIF Capital Corporation. “Natural gas has been foundational to our quality of life in Canada, and the industry works hard to ensure this clean, reliable and affordable energy is available for our daily needs. IGRC2024 is an opportunity for the global gas industry and clean technology leaders to share expertise, and discuss research & development, to advance the gas opportunity around the world.”

The launch of the website also signals the start of a virtual series of webinars and other events leading up to IGRC2024. The first webinar will be on February 23, 2022, featuring natural gas cleantech leaders as they share their stories and experiences in the industry. CGA and NGIF invite you to visit http://igrc2024.org/ to learn more about IGRC2024 and its upcoming virtual events.

About CGA
The Canadian Gas Association (CGA) is the voice of Canada’s gaseous energy delivery industry, including natural gas, renewable natural gas (RNG) and hydrogen. CGA membership includes energy distribution and transmission companies, equipment manufacturers, and suppliers of goods and services to the industry. CGA’s utility members are Canadian-owned and active in eight provinces and one territory. CGA members meet 38 per cent of Canada’s energy needs through a network of over 573,000 kilometres of underground infrastructure. The versatility and resiliency of this infrastructure allows it to deliver an ever-changing gas supply mix to over 7.3 million customer locations representing approximately two-thirds of Canadians. CGA members ensure Canadians get the affordable, reliable, clean gaseous energy they want and need. CGA is also working to constantly improve that gaseous energy offering, by driving forward innovation through the Natural Gas Innovation Fund (NGIF).
