NGE Notes: TAP has no plans to transit Iranian gas to Europe

The Trans-Adriatic pipeline has stated that it does not intend to transport any gas from Iran, depite Iranian reports of that country's plans to transit gas exports through TAP to Switzerland.

Citing on an unnamed Iranian official, Fars News Agency reported Iran is finalizing the deals to export natural gas to Iraq and Syria (through Islami pipeline), Pakistan (via Peace pipeline) and to Switzerland.

The National Iranian Gas Export Company and Swiss Elektrizitaetsgesellschaft Laufenburg (EGL) signed a 25-year deal in March 2008 for delivering 5.5 billion cubic meters of gas per year.
