IPP Media: Tanzanian VP Defends Govt Stand on Natural Resources' Revenue Management

The government says it will spend revenue from natural resources to achieve a prosperous future for not only the current generation of Tanzanians but also for that of the future.

Speaking in Dar es Salaam yesterday at the conference on oil and gas vocational training initiative (VTEC) Africa, Vice President Dr Mohammed Gharib Bilal said the government will make sure that the hydrocarbon sector is given every chance to flourish and strengthen the economy.
 
According to the VP, Tanzania has made the oil and gas sector attractive to foreign investors by upgrading production sharing agreements.
 
“We are now working with some of the world’s leading oil and gas companies which are BG Group, Statoil, Petrobras, ExxonMobil, Pavilion Energy and Ophir Energy. These companies are already operating here and we must send them a message that Tanzania is open to business and is a wonderful place to invest in.
