Daily News Tanzania: NGO Hails New Laws to Regulate Oil, Gas Revenue

Coalition of Civil Society Organisation (SCO) have commended the government for coming up with the proposed Oil and Gas Revenue Management Bill 2015 and Petroleum Bill 2015, saying it would help check revenue losses from the oil and gas sub-sector.

They said the proposed Bill comes at the right time when the country continues to make huge discoveries of gas and yet there was no specific legislation on natural gas.

However, the coalition, made up of Oil and Natural Environmental Alliance (ONGEA), Policy Forum, Interfaith Committee on Economic Justice, HakiMadini, International Alliance of Natural Resources in Africa (IANRA) and Governance and Economic Policy Centre, punched holes in some sections of the draft bills and came up with recommendations for amendments.
