Times Live: (South Africa) West Coast Gas Can Incinerate Power Woes, Says City Council

The City of Cape Town intends to build a gas-fired power station to help insulate its residents and businesses from Eskom's programme of load-shedding.

Deputy mayor Ian Neilson said on Tuesday that in its efforts to diversify its power mix the city council was so keen on gas power that it was already in negotiations to make it a reality.

 

According to Neilson, the city wanted a private company to build the station, which would supplement Eskom power to guarantee sufficient energy supply for residents.
