Puls Biznesu: Talisman to Pull Out of Poland Shale?

Puls Biznesu is reporting that Talisman Energy Inc. will be join ExxonMobil in leaving the search for shale gas in Poland.

Quoting its unnamed sources, the respected business publication said that Canadian based Talisman, which has earned an interest in three shale gas concessions in Poland, was closing its operations as a result of measures to reduce overall expenditures.

A Talisman spokeswoman quoted by Puls Biznesu said that no such decision was taken and the group was working on its next year's strategy.

Talisman and its partner San Leon Energy announced in July that it has successfully hit shale gas in the Baltic Basin for a third time following the completion of the Szymkowo-1 well in Poland.

Polish Exploration and Production Industry Organization (OPPPW) which includes Talisman, recently commented that Poland’s recent proposals to increase hydrocarbon taxes do not take into account the level of investment needed to successful develop the nation's shale gas resources and would impede exploration efforts.
