Warsaw Voice: High tax on hydrocarbons may scare off minor investors in shale gas

Poland will likely impose a tax rate of 30% or higher in the case of new tax on hydrocarbons which may discourage smaller investors, natural gas exploration company Julifield’s deputy CEO Michal Zywiecki said.

Poland might, in turn, be disadvantaged by such a turn of events as some exploration areas may not be studied once small investors withdraw and, secondly, gas exploration concerns may decide not to reveal the information they obtained about the Polish shale gas deposits until a more advantageous tax regulations are introduced, in the opinion of representatives of the firms from the segment.  MORE
