Oil & Gas Technology: ONGC eyes Mauritius as Africa-India petroleum transit hub

ONGC subsidiary MRPL has entered into a memorandum of understanding with STC Mauritius and IndianOil, to set up a petroleum terminal in Mauritius

The joint-venture terminal is to be constructed with an investment of around USD 130m, and will facilitate re-exporting of petroleum products from Mauritius to other Indian Ocean islands and mainland Africa.

This could turn Mauritius into an India-Africa petroleum transit hub, besides enhancing the oil supply security status of Mauritius.

Currently, MRPL exports about 1.2 MMTPA of petroleum products to Mauritius through STC-M.
