All Africa: Namibia - Erongo Gas Power Station Operational By 2016

A billion dollar 250 megawatt (MW) gas power plant in Walvis Bay is expected to reach commercial operation by August 2016, managing director of NamPower Paulinus Shilamba said this week.

Xaris Energy was appointed as successful bidder and is expected to make a final investment decision (FID) on the project, Shilamba.

The cost of the project is estimated at over N$7.6 billion, which includes a power station, floating storage and re-gasification. Pipeline infrastructure will also form part of the development.
