Morocco World News: Moroccan Minister Downplays Importance of Gas Discoveries in Morocco

Moroccan Energy Minister Abdelkader Amara said that information provided by the national media on deposit discoveries is not ‘always true’.

Speaking in a session of oral questions in the parliament on Tuesday, the Energy Minister downplayed the recent gas discoveries announced by an Irish exploration company following the preliminary results of drilling of the KSR-12 well in the Sebou Permit, onshore Morocco.

The minister also said that the kingdom’s natural gas potential is estimated at around 70 million cubic meters. On December 22nd, Exploration Company Circle Oil said it has found a “significant” gas discovery in Morocco.

The Limerick-based company, which operates in North Africa and the Middle East, has announced a significant gas discovery following the preliminary results of drilling of the KSR-12 well in the Sebou Permit, onshore Morocco.
