The Citizen: Gov Takes Control of Karoo Fracking (South Africa)

The idea of fracking shale in the Karoo for natural gas may not be dead in the water yet, but a government initiative to properly assess the impact the process may have, has been welcomed.

On Tuesday, the Departments of Minerals Resources, Environmental Affairs, Science and Technology, Water and Sanitation and Energy announced the formation of the Strategic Environmental Assessment of Shale Gas Development.
