Daily Record: Fracking Moratorium Should Be Lifted Because Shale Gas Is Scotland's Best Chance for "Economic Independence"

Controversial Ineos boss Jim Ratcliffe has said shale gas extraction is Scotland’s best chance to gain “ economic independence”.

And he says Scotland will fall behind England if it turns its back on “abundant raw material”.

The Grangemouth refinery boss has invested millions of pounds to convert the plant to take shale gas from North America, including a fleet of huge tankers.

But ultimately Ineos wants the Scottish government to lift its moratorium onfracking here, which it claims will open up new cutting edge industries.
