Citi FM: Ghana gradually becoming Africa’s energy hub – Energy Minister

Minister of Energy, Emmanuel Kofi Armah Buah has reiterated government’s commitment to making the country the power hub of Africa. He said this was evident in the number of interventions being undertaken by government to end the energy crisis and expand the generation capacity.

His comment follows the signing of a $7 billion agreement between Ghana government and Italian oil giant, ENI, for the production of about 180 million cubic feet of gas at Ghana’s Cape Three Point. Gas from the project will used to produce additional 1,100 megawatts of power to supplement Ghana’s power sector.

Government has been struggling to resolve the energy crisis which has worsened in recent times forcing the Electricity Company of Ghana to implement a load-shedding exercise.
