Financial Times: Gazprom warns of freeze on Russia suppliers

Gazprom has warned it is suspending purchases of gas from independent gas producers as Russia’s gas export monopoly battles weakening demand at home and abroad.

The group, already under fire in a European Commission probe into whether it has abused its position in central and eastern Europe, informed independent producers including Novatek and Lukoil in a letter last week that it would suspend all purchases from this Monday to support its own production amid falling demand.  MORE
