Civil Works Start at Oz Atlas Gas Facility

Australian Senex Energy April 3 said civil works have begun for the Jemena-owned natural gas processing facility at Atlas gas project in Queensland.

In June 2018 Senex partnered with gas infrastructure firm Jemena to build the processing facility at Atlas project and deliver first gas to the domestic market by late 2019. Jemena has awarded the construction contract for this facility to Valmec, an Australian-owned energy services group.

The civil works component has been sub-contracted to FKG Group, which has started on-site works, Senex said.

Last month, Senex said it has received environmental okay from Queensland government for the project. The project received federal environmental approval in January this year.

The primary objective of the Project Atlas natural gas development programme is to reach plateau production of 32 terajoules/d (0.85mn m3/d), with an additional 8 terajoules/d (0.21mn m3/d) of installed redundant capacity. Atlas will include around 60 development wells being drilled in its initial campaigns starting late 3Q 2019, according to Senex. The final investment decision regarding Project Atlas was taken last October.
