FOCUS: Bulgaria’s Parliament to hear PM and Energy Minister in connection with South Stream project

Lawmakers are to hear premier Plamen Oresharski in connection with the government’s last activities on the South Stream gas pipeline project and and Energy and Economy Minister, Dragomir Stoynev, on the statements the project was an irreversible process FOCUS News Agency reported.

Interior Minister Tsvetlin Yovchev and Vladimir Pisanchev, Chairperson of the State Agency for National Security (SANS), will attend the hearings at a proposal of Tsvetan Tsvetanov, Deputy Chairperson of the Citizens for European Development of Bulgaria (CEDB) political party.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Plamen Oresharski has ordered suspension of all actions connected with the construction of the South Stream gas pipeline until an agreement with the European Union (EU) on the project is achieved. PM Oresharski announced the news himself after a meeting with three U.S. senators, who are on a visit to Bulgaria - John McCain, Ron Johnson and Christopher Murphy.

At the meeting the U.S. and Bulgarian representatives discussed the Bulgaria-U.S. relations in the field of economy and defence, as well as issues connected with the energy independence and the situation in Ukraine.
