Standart News: Bulgarians protest against fracking and shale gas

Today there were protests against the use of fracking for exploration and production of shale gas in Bulgaria in several Bulgarian cities.

In Dobrich the protest began at 10:00 a.m., while the gathering kicked off a 11:00 a.m. in Varna.

This week the Bulgarian municipality of Shabla issued a protest declaration to the President, the Prime Minister and ministries about the allegations of lack of transparency in the exploration of oil and gas in Bulgaria.

The protesters also raised their voices against the upcoming Transatlantic Partnership Agreement for trade and investment between the EU and the United States. According to this scenario, the US will supply the EU with LNG via large container ships to help Brussel's attempt to break Russia's gas monopoly in the EU.
