Focus: Bulgarian PM on South Stream: Since project is so profitable, let us save it

The long-awaited position of Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov on the news that Russia is willing to scrap the South Stream gas pipeline project and redirect the pipes to Turkey was presented during his hearing at the Bulgarian parliament on Wednesday.

Here is what the head of the Bulgarian cabinet said on the issue: “None of us has seen a single figure about how much Bulgaria will profit from the South Stream gas pipeline,” Mr Borisov said.

“South Stream passed through stages in which even the current government cannot get hold of the contract. I am not aware whether the previous government has read the papers. We do not have them yet. I would like to ask the parliament if we have to use force to get these documents so as to see what is written in them.

None of has seen a single figure about how much Bulgaria will profit from the South Stream gas pipeline,” Boyko Borisov remarked. He added he learned about the suspension of the project from the statement of Russian President Vladimir Putin in Turkey.
