FOCUS: Bulgaria without South Stream – “we are all going to freeze”

If this winter the Russian gas disappears from the kitchens of the Bulgarian households, we are to witness a new revolution. This is the result of the “freezing” of the construction of the Bulgarian section of the South Stream gas pipeline, Russian news edition Argumenti i Fakti writes.

Without the Russian gas, there will be a disaster – people will simply freeze this winter.

It was already announced that the South Stream has been suspended, while the electricity and heating prices are going up. And now what? Anyway, we are paying a three times higher electricity and gas prices than the Russians though our salaries are lower. Then, we have no other choice but go out on the streets and pommel the clerks, writes author Grigory Zotov.

65-year-old Bulgarian pensioner Ivan Stoychev is very aggressive – while talking he is waving his hands and yelling, as if he has entered into a real fight with the politicians. But it is understandable – many elderly people in Bulgaria pay utility bills that exceed their monthly pensions. MORE
