APA: Azerbaijani President: "The European market is the most profitable for us"

“With regard to energy issues, there is a great opportunity for our cooperation. Azerbaijan plays an important role in the new energy sources for Europe”, Azerbaijani president Ilham Aliyev said in a press statement in Budapest, on November 11, APA reports.

Reminding that Azerbaijan is the initiator of the Southern Gas Corridor, the President expressed satisfaction the Southern Gas Corridor is already being implemented: "Two months ago a solemn ceremony was held in Baku and we already begin to build a new gas pipeline. In fact, it will make new additions to the energy map of Europe. This energy map, in fact, will be changed, and rich gas resources of Azerbaijan will transport to the European market. We have a specific timetable for the work associated with the Southern Gas Corridor. I am sure that Azerbaijani gas in due time - in the years 2018-2019 will be transported to Europe."

The President noted there is a need for a high level coordination work: "Must find a solution issues both bilaterally and between the EU and Azerbaijan, as we want to implement the project in a timely manner. This is necessary both for us and for Europe. It will be new, alternative sources of gas to Europe. The European market is the most profitable for us. That is where our interests coincide. "
