New CBM Technology to Offer Clean Energy to India

India’s greenhouse emissions might come down thanks to Vikram Vishal, 24, of Monash Research Academy, working at the Department of Earth Sciences, IIT Bombay.

Vishal’s multi-purpose technology in the form of coal bed methane will offer low-carbon, clean and green energy to the nation.

“India is a coal-rich nation. We will absorb carbon dioxide emitted by industrial units and take it to regions like Jharkhand, Chhattisgarh and West Bengal where there are enough coal reserves.

The carbon dioxide will be pumped under high pressure into the deep-seated coal beds,” said Mr Vishal while explaining the process to this newspaper.

The carbon dioxide will expel methane from the coal beds and will be collected and used as fuel in automobiles and for cooking.
