Toho Gas inks more carbon-neutral city gas supply deals

Japanese utility Toho Gas has signed agreements to supply carbon-neutral city gas to three more companies, it said on October 15. It had agreed to supply carbon-neutral gas to six companies in July this year.

The utility will supply the carbon-neutral gas to Aisin Co., Aichi Steel Co and FTS Co. In July it had signed agreements with Showa Densen Holdings Co., Sumitomo Dainippon Pharma Co., Denso, Tokai Rika Co., NGK Insulators, and NGK Ceramic Device Co.

This switch to carbon-neutral city gas will contribute to a total reduction of approximately 200,000 metric tons/year of CO2 for the nine companies, the company said.

Toho received its first shipment of carbon-neutral LNG in April this year from Diamond Gas International, a wholly-owned subsidiary of Mitsubishi Corp.
