Mexico eyes LNG export future [Gas in Transition]

Mexico’s long-term role in the LNG market looks more likely to be as an exporter of US gas, rather than an importer of LNG. Development of its domestic gas infrastructure in tandem with expanded US-Mexican cross-border capacity – alongside barriers to the construction of US west coast LNG plants – creates the opportunity for Pacific Coast access in Mexico for US pipeline gas. However, bottlenecks remain, as does political opposition to Mexico’s growing dependence on US gas. [Gas in Transition, Volume 1, Issue 4]
