Sonatrach, Eni Strike Gas Deal

Algeria's Sonatrach and Italy's Eni have signed a deal on the marketing of dry gas from the Zemoul El Kbar licence at block 403, the former said in a statement on March 9.

The agreement covers 500mn mof annual supply up until 2042, Sonatrach said. The gas will be transported via a pipeline that runs from the licence to block 405b, where the Menzel Ledjmet Est (MLE) gas processing facilities are located.

Eni and Sonatrach earlier this month announced the completion of a pipeline connecting MLE and the Bir Rebaa Nord (BRN) field, also at block 403, enabling the export of BRN's associated gas. The pair agreed on the pipeline's construction in 2018 as part of an extension of their partnership at block 403.
