Sinopec's 2021 LNG imports to be 19% higher

Chinese state-run energy company Sinopec’s LNG imports this year are expected to be 20mn metric tons, up 19.1% year/year, it said on December 13.

Sinopec operates three LNG import and regasification terminals in China: Qingdao, Tianjin and Beihai. Earlier this month, the company said it had started work on its Longkou LNG import and regasification terminal project.

The terminal, located in the Shandong province, has been included in the list of key oil and gas infrastructure projects jointly issued by the NDRC and the National Energy Administration. The first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in October 2023. The initial capacity of the terminal will be 6.5mn metric tons/year. In the second phase of the project, the capacity will be almost double that, at 12mn mt/yr.
