Sinopec starts work on Longkou LNG regas terminal

Chinese state-run energy company Sinopec has started work on its Longkou LNG import and regasification terminal project, it said on December 1. The project was approved by National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China’s highest planning body, in October.

The terminal, located in the Shandong province, has been included in the list of key oil and gas infrastructure projects jointly issued by the NDRC and the National Energy Administration.

The first phase of the project is scheduled to be completed and put into operation in October 2023. The initial capacity of the terminal will be 6.5mn metric tons/year. In the second phase of the project, the capacity will be almost double to 12mn mt/yr.
