Sinopec Tianjin Terminal Imports 1.3mn mt LNG in 1Q

Sinopec’s Tianjin LNG receiving terminal has unloaded 1.3mn metric tons of LNG during the three months to March 31 (1Q2019), Sinopec said April 2.

The terminal has supplied 1.22bn m3 of regasified LNG to customers downstream, the company said.

The terminal began commercial operations in February last year with a cargo from Australia. Its capacity is 3mn mt/year and can supply 4bn m³/yr gas to downstream customers in Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei and Shandong. In 2018, the terminal operated near full capacity.

In addition to its Tianjin terminal, Sinopec operates a terminal at Beihai and at Qingdao in Shandong province. Late-October, Sinopec started work on the second phase of Qingdao import terminal.
