Shanghai's Gas Use Spikes

Shanghai’s natural gas consumption hit a record December 10 thanks to a spell of cold weather, Shanghai Gas said December 12.

According to the company, since December 7 city’s daily gas consumption has exceeded 35mn m3/d, with consumption hitting all time high of 37.68mn m3/d December 10.

The company, which is the main gas supplier for China’s financial hub, last week said it plans to supply 2.7bn m3 of natural during the winter season that runs from November to March. It also expects the consumption to hit a high of 40mn m3/d during the current cold spell.

Cnooc Gas and Power, which supplies across China, said this week too it supplied a record 205mn m3 gas on December 10, significantly higher than its single-day high of 173mn m3 last year.
