Petrofac Wins Absheron Contract

Field service engineers Petrofac in a joint venture with Azeri state Socar has won a 12-month engineering and technical services contract to support French Total's operations in the Absheron gasfield in the Caspian Sea, it said August 19.

The field, 100 km south of Baku, was discovered in 2011. Socar and Total each have a 50% interest in the field. Socar’s semi-submersible drilling rig Heydar Aliyev successfully completed a first well earlier this year. Petrofac did not put a value on the contract.

Petrofac said it was pleased to be expanding its service offering in Azerbaijan, and looked forward to providing engineering and wider technical services to support Total and Socar. Petrofac’s Training Services business has been active in-country since 2004 providing skills development opportunities across the country’s oil and gas and petrochemical industries.
