State-run PetroChina’s Changning-Weiyuan shale gas field in Sichuan basin has produced 1.85bn m3 of shale gas during the January 1-December 1 period, up by almost 1bn m3 compared with the same period last year, PetroChina’s parent firm, CNPC, said December 5.

PetroChina operates Changning-Weiyuan and Zhaotong shale gas projects in Sichuan basin. In October, CNPC said that PetroChina has added 741bn m3 of proven shale gas reserves in China's Sichuan basin, taking its total verified reserves to over 1 trillion m3.

Company’s shale gas production this year is expected to be 7.7bn m3, CNPC said, adding that PetroChina’s production capacity will reach 10bn m3 by the end of 2019.
