PetroChina's Shale Gas Reserves Up

PetroChina has added 741bn m3 of proven shale gas reserves in China's Sichuan basin, taking its total verified reserves to over 1 trillion m3, PetroChina’s parent company CNPC said September 29.

Company’s shale gas production this year is expected to be 7.7bn m3, CNPC said, adding that PetroChina’s production capacity will reach 10bn m3 by the end of 2019.

The shale gas-rich Sichuan basin in southwest China produced about one-third of the country's total shale gas in 2017, Xinhua reported last year. PetroChina operates Changning-Weiyuan and Zhaotong projects in Sichuan basin.
