The three producers behind the bold plan to monetise Alaskan North Slope gas reserves want to reduce their roles in it, now that the state has waded in with a quarter stake.

ExxonMobil and its partners BP and ConocoPhillips no longer want to invest in the up-to-$65bn Alaska LNG project (AKLNG), with Exxon arguing the latter is “transitioning to a state-led project.” However, they say they will work with such a new structure and negotiate to sell it their gas.
