PAKISTAN TO START ON NORTH-SOUTH GAS PIPE IN JULY: PRESS

Pakistan, with help from Russia, will start building the Pakistan Stream Gas Pipeline, previously called the North-South Gas Pipeline, in July, according to a Bloomberg report published on December 17.

  • Islamabad and Moscow last month revised their 2015 deal on developing the pipeline. 
  • The 1,100-km gas pipeline will link LNG terminals near Karachi in the south of Pakistan with the city of Lahore in the north. The south Asian nation has two operational floating LNG import terminals at Port Qasim near Karachi. 

 

RELIANCE, BP START UP GAS FIELD OFF INDIA

Reliance Industries (RIL) and BP have started production from R Cluster, an ultra-deep-water gas field in block KG D6 off the east coast of India, RIL said in a statement.

  • RIL and BP are developing three deepwater gas projects at KG D6 – R Cluster, Satellites Cluster and MJ – which together are expected to meet about 15% of India’s gas demand by 2023.

 

NORWEGIAN GAS OUTPUT UP 5.3% IN NOV

Norway's gas production rose 10.2% month on month in November to 289.4mn m3/day, the Norwegian Petroleum Directorate (NPD) reported. Output came in at 5.3% below the forecast, however, and 4.7% under the level in November 2019.

 

PETROCHINA FLOWS GAS FROM XINJIANG WELL

State-run PetroChina has flowed natural gas from an exploration well at the Xinjiang oilfield in Xinjiang, its parent company CNPC said in a statement.

  • NBS data shows that gas output in China reached 153.4bn m3 between January and October 2020, up 9% year on year. The growth in output is well up on the sluggish increases in the first half of the 2010s, but still well below the increase in gas consumption.
