PetroChina Flows Gas from Xinjiang Well

State-run PetroChina has flowed natural gas from an exploration well at the Xinjiang oilfield in Xinjiang, its parent company CNPC said on December 18 in a statement.

The Hutan-1 well flowed 610,000 m3/day of natural gas and 106.3 m3/d (667.5 barrels/d) of oil, CNPC said. The preliminary estimate of the gas reservoir's size is 100bn m3.

CNPC stated that recent discoveries of natural gas exploration have demonstrated the huge potential in the middle section of the southern margin of the Junggar basin. The Xinjiang oilfield is located in the northwestern Xinjiang province and is a major source of oil production in China.
