Iran's Gas Output to Rise by 100 Mcm/d This Year

Iran’s natural gas output will increase by 100 million cubic meters per day (mcm/d) by the end of the current Iranian calendar year (ends March 20, 2015), according to Managing Director of the Iranian Offshore Engineering Company (IOEC) Gholam Reza Manouchehri.

Manouchehri said his company will install and launch four offshore platforms in the South Pars gas field which will produce the extra gas, reports Iran’s Fars News Agency.

Last month, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani announced that all phases of the development of the giant South Pars gas field will be accomplished by the end of his tenure in 2017, adds the news agency.

South Pars covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Iran’s territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatar’s territorial waters.
