Seadrill secures contract for two drillships

Offshore drilling contractor Seadrill on May 7 announced contract awards for two of its drillships.

Seadrill's drillship, West Capella, has secured a one-well contract in South Korea. The contract, with an estimated duration of 40 days, is valued at approximately $32mn. This includes a mobilisation fee of approximately $10mn and excludes fees for additional services. The contract is anticipated to commence in December 2024.

West Neptune, has secured a six-month contract extension with an independent operator in the US Gulf of Mexico. The extension is expected to commence in the third quarter of 2025, directly following the completion of its current contract. The estimated value of the contract is approximately $86mn, excluding fees for additional services, including managed pressure drilling (MPD).

Seadrill said it will enhance the West Neptune with MPD capabilities during planned out-of-service periods, making it the tenth rig in its fleet equipped with MPD or MPD-equivalent technologies.
