India's June Gas Output Drops

India’s gross production of natural gas in June was 2.64bn m3, down 1.6% compared with the corresponding month of the previous year, according to data published July 22 by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

The cumulative gross production of natural gas of 8.03bn m3 for the first three months of this financial year (Q1 2020), was down 0.5% year-on-year, the data showed. Indian financial year runs from April to March.

Consumption of natural gas in June was 5.3bn m3 while for Q1 it was 15.7bn m3. PPAC data did not offer year-on-year comparison. India’s import dependency remained over 50%. Last month India imported LNG equivalent to 2.73bn m3 of pipeline gas (about 2mn metric tons), up 4.9% compared with the same month of previous year, according to PPAC data.
