India's June LNG Imports Up 5%

India’s LNG imports in June increased year-on-year for the third month in a row, according to data published July 22 by Indian oil and gas ministry's Petroleum Planning and Analysis Cell (PPAC).

Last month India imported LNG equivalent to 2.73bn m3 of pipeline gas (about 2mn metric tons), up 4.9% compared with the same month of previous year. During the first three months of this financial year (Q1 2020), cumulative imports were 7.92bn m3, up 5.9% year-on-year. India’s financial year runs from April to March. 

During the last financial year, India imported 27bn m3 of LNG, up 2.6% compared with the year before. This was the highest ever imports during a fiscal year.
