Cnooc's Zhuhai Terminal Hits Milestone

Cnooc Gas and Power, a unit of Chinese state-owned Cnooc, said June 11 its Zhuhai LNG terminal has unloaded and processed over 5 million metric tons of LNG since start of operations in 2013.

The terminal, located in China’s Guangdong province, successfully unloaded its latest cargo June 10. The Zhuhai LNG terminal received its first cargo in October 2013 from Qatar aboard the Q-Flex LNG vessel Al-Gattara.

The terminal has a capacity of 3.5mn mt/yr and supplies gas to cities of Guangzhou, Foshan, Zhuhai, Zhongshan and Jiangmen. Cnooc has proposed to double the terminal’s capacity.

In April, Cnooc Gas and Power said that terminal saw a sharp 133% year on year rise in 1Q2018 regasification volume. The amount of LNG received in 1Q was little over 35% of the annual target.
