Cnooc's Fujian Branch's LNG Sales Up

Cnooc Gas and Power’s Fujian sales branch has sold 1 million metric tons of LNG during January 1-November 29 period, an increase of 32% compared with the same period last year, company said December 3.

Fujian sales branch mainly serves the eastern region of the neighbouring Guangdong province. The demand for gas in these parts is concentrated in the ceramic industry. In recent years gas has become a dominant energy source for this segment of the industry, having a 70% share in overall energy mix in 2017, Cnooc Gas and Power said.

China’s gas demand has been on an uptrend since early-2017 owing to government's aggressive coal-to-gas push. Demand has been robust this year as well resulting in record LNG imports during the January-October period.
