China's H1 Gas Imports Up Over 3%

Chinese gas imports via pipeline and in the form of LNG were up 3.3% yr/yr in the first six months of the year, marking a significant slowdown in growth, caused by the Covid-19 pandemic's impact on demand.

Asia’s biggest economy imported 48.36mn metric tons of gas during January through June, against 46.9mn mt in the same period of last year, customs department data published July 14 showed. In contrast, Chinese gas imports surged 11.6% yr/yr in the first half of 2019.
