BP Still Keen for Golar FLNG Vessel

Shipowner Golar LNG said December 17 it has received a 'limited notice to proceed' (LNTP) from Tortue project operator BP in respect of the provision of a floating liquefaction vessel to support the development of Phase 1 of the Greater Tortue/Ahmeyim field, offshore Mauritania and Senegal.

The shipowner added that the LNTP is in furtherance of the preliminary agreement and heads of terms for a charter agreement with BP announced by Golar on April 19, 2018.

Worth noting however is that BP and key partner Kosmos have yet to take final investment decision for the Tortue FLNG venture, although both have said this is planned by end-2018.

Vessel conversion would take place at Keppel Shipyard in Singapore, and would build on Keppel's delivery of the FLNG Hilli Episeyo, using Black and Veatch Corporation's PRICO technology, said Golar. It added that discussions regarding a minority investment in the vessel are also progressing.
