Allseas completes infield pipelay for BP’s GTA LNG project

Allseas' construction vessel Pioneering Spirit has completed the infield pipelay scope for BP's Greater Tortue Ahmeyim (GTA) LNG project situated on the maritime border of Mauritania and Senegal, Allseas said on February 20.

The pipeline will be recovered in J-mode configuration to install the termination assembly. To make this happen, the vessel aft has been fitted with a bespoke J-mode frame with a 1000-tonne load capacity.

The pipelay scope comprises about 75 km of 16-inch export lines and 10 km of 10-inch CRA infield lines. Pioneering Spirit will conclude the offshore works by installing the six outstanding flowline termination assemblies.

The Greater Tortue Ahmeyim Phase 1 development is designed to export gas to a floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) facility positioned approximately 40 km offshore. The facility will process and separate liquids before transporting the gas to FLNG facilities located 10 km offshore. Once operational, Phase 1 is expected to produce approximately 2.3mn tonnes/year of LNG.

BP announced earlier this month that floating LNG (FLNG) vessel, Gimi, had reached the site of the GTA LNG project. The Gimi FLNG vessel, owned and operated by Golar LNG, embarked on its journey from Singapore in November 2023. It can store up to 125,000m3 of LNG.
