Taqa Gas pens gas supply pact with Somabay Resort in Egypt

Taqa Gas, a subsidiary of Taqa Arabia, has signed an agreement to supply natural gas to Somabay Resort, situated in the Red Sea governorate of Egypt, it said on February 7.

This collaboration marks a milestone as Somabay becomes the first integrated tourist resort in Egypt to fully transition to the use of natural gas.

"With this agreement, we proudly become the first integrated tourist resort in Egypt to fully transition to the use of natural gas. The alignment of this agreement with our company's vision and strategy underscores our dedication to responsible and eco-friendly practices," Ibrahim El-Missiri, CEO of Somabay, said.

"Our aim is to maximize the benefits derived from natural gas resources and contribute effectively to the advancement of the Egyptian economy," Tarek El-Hawari, managing director of Taqa Gas, said.

This collaboration builds upon the successful partnership between Taqa Arabia and Abu Soma Touristic Development in 2022, which saw the establishment of a 5 MW solar energy station at Somabay Resort.
