TAP Moves Forward With Pipes Contract Award

The Trans Adriatic Pipeline project is moving forward with the award of a contract for pipes to Salzgitter Mannesmann International GmbH. The management of the TAP AG, the company established to develop the pipeline, welcomed the news and repeated that the construction should start in 2016.

“TAP plans to award several more large contracts by the end of the year. This will enable pipeline construction to begin in Greece, Albania and Italy in 2016 as planned” Ian Bradshaw, Managing Director at TAP, commented in a note released on Thursday

The Germany-headquartered company will provide 48” line pipes and bends for the onshore sections of TAP in Albania, Greece and Italy, and 36” bends for the offshore section across the Adriatic.

Last month, Trans Adriatic Pipeline AG (TAP) invited companies to pre-qualify for the supply and delivery of the Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) system and fibre optic cable.

Meanwhile, Baku is trying to strengthen ties with European companies and countries. According to Azernews, Azerbaijan and the UK have decided to expand cooperation. British companies are expected to invest in the country in Caucasus.
