Sinopec starts gas production at West Sichuan gas field

Sinopec, the Chinese state-owned energy company, announced on March 13 the initiation of gas production at the West Sichuan gas field located in the Sichuan Basin.

The West Sichuan gas field boasts an annual capacity of 2bn m3 and reserves exceeding 100bn m3. Alongside natural gas extraction, the project is anticipated to yield approximately 130,000 tonnes/year of sulphur.

Notably, this project represents Sinopec's third gas field in the Sichuan Basin with reserves surpassing 100bn m3

Currently, Sinopec holds proven natural gas geological reserves of nearly 3 trillion m3 in the Sichuan Basin. Annual production from these reserves has reached 26bn m3, the company said.
