SEEP vs. Nabucco Decision Expected Mid-Year

The Shah Deniz consortium will choose a "semi-finalist" for prospective delivery of Azerbaijani gas to central and southern Europe by the end of June 2012.

Speaking at the Georgia International Oil, Gas and Infrastructure Conference in Tbilisi, Rob Dunn of BP, operator of the Shah Deniz field, said that the consortium would determine its preferred choice for the delivery to Azeri gas to Italy and to central Europe, by the end of June.

The BP backed South East European Pipeline (SEEP) and a re-making of the Nabucco gas pipeline dubbed Nabucco West, are competing to move gas from the phase two of the Shah Deniz gas field via the "the northern route", to serve the Balkans and through to Central Europe.
