Saipem wins $1bn contract in Libya

Saipem has been awarded a $1bn contract by Mellitah Oil & Gas, a Libyan consortium comprising the National Oil Corporation of Libya and Eni North Africa, it said on August 9. The contract is for the development of the Bouri gas utilisation project (BGUP).

Under this contract, Saipem will undertake the revamping of platforms and facilities at the Bouri gas field, situated offshore the Libyan coast in water depths ranging from 145 m to 183 m. The scope of the project includes engineering, procurement, construction, installation, and commissioning (EPCIC) of a gas recovery module (GRM) weighing approximately 5,000 tonnes.

The GRM will be integrated onto the existing DP4 offshore facility. Additionally, Saipem will be responsible for laying 28 km of pipelines to connect the DP3, DP4, and Sabratha platforms.

Key lifting operations will be carried out by the semi-submersible crane vessel Saipem 7000.
