Russia Secures Ties with Armenia

In a moment of tensions in Ukraine, Gazprom’s Alexey Miller met the President of the Republic of Armenia to discuss the cooperation issues in the energy sector.

“Gazprom's expansion in Armenia guarantees sound and sustainable development of Armenian fuel and energy sector, fortifies its energy security and significantly contributes to the socioeconomic growth of the country,” Alexey Miller said in a note released on Wednesday.

During the meeting, Alexey Miller and President Serzh Sargsyan agreed to jointly develop a General Gas Supply and the Gasification Scheme of Armenia.

In the last months, Gazprom strengthened its ties with Armenia, signing agreements to provide the country with 2.5 billion cubic meters of gas and for the acquisition of the remaining shares in ArmRosgazprom. The company led by Miller increased its stake in ArmRosgazprom to 100%.
